The Nexus International School 1:1 Laptop Programme

What is 1:1?

A 1:1 learning programme is defined as an environment where learners and teachers have 24-hour-a-day, 7-day-a-week access to a notebook computer as well as digital content, educational software, and digital authoring tools.

The NISP Laptop 1:1 Programme

In order to ensure that our learners have access to 21st Century learning, are competitive graduates and are prepared for a 21st Century workforce, the school has a compulsory 1:1 laptop programme for learners in Year 6 through to Year 10. This means learners have the use of their own Apple Macbook laptop in every lesson.

Our 1:1 programme is currently for learners in Year 6 through Year 10, with the possibility of other year groups being added at a later stage. Considerable planning, infrastructure and most importantly teacher training is on going and our teaching pedagogies in the classroom reflect an innovative approach to learning.

21st Century Learning

Learners will use engaging technologies in collaborative, inquiry-based learning environments with teachers who are willing and able to use technology’s power to assist in transforming knowledge and skills into products, solutions and new information.

Purchasing a 1:1 Laptop

The school has an exclusive Apple Service Centre on the campus. The centre sells a variety of Apple and other computer related products at educational prices. All parents and learners are able to use the centre to purchase Apple laptops, computers and related equipment. In addition the shop is also responsible for servicing and warranty of our 1:1 Laptop Programme.

There are a variety of methods for purchasing a 1:1 Macbook Pro 13’ (this laptop is our recommended computer) - Please see the table below. It is possible for the school to invoice companies directly or to include the laptop costs with the school fees, please inform the Admissions office your preferred requirements. The prices below are subject to change, they are correct as at 28th March 2011.
