ICTKnowledgeNETKnowledgeNET is our virtual learning platform and is used throughout
the whole school. A Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) works through the
Internet, providing an online platform for education. It provides a
variety of tools with which both teachers and students can use for
instruction and learning. Some of the key benefits of using KnowledgeNET
include:
Learning GatewayThe Learning Gateway is part of the schools management information
system called SIMS. The Learning Gateway allows parents to access
information about their children, teachers to access information about
learners who they teach and learners to access information about
themselves. The information available on the site will change and
develop over time, but for example parents may be able to see attendance
records, selected information about their child that may include
assessment and reporting information. This is a new project at Nexus
International School and is still under development, further information
will be passed on to parents as the new system develops. 1:1 Laptop ProgramWhat is 1:1? A 1:1 learning programme is defined as an
environment where learners and teachers have 24-hour-a-day, 7-day-a-week
access to a notebook computer as well as digital content, educational
software, and digital authoring tools. The NISP Laptop 1:1
Programme In order to ensure that our learners have access
to 21st Century learning, are competitive graduates and are prepared for
a 21st Century workforce, the school has a compulsory 1:1 laptop
programme for learners in Year 6 through to Year 10. This means learners
have the use of their own Apple Macbook laptop in every lesson. Our
1:1 programme is currently for learners in Year 6 through Year 10, with
the possibility of other year groups being added at a later stage.
Considerable planning, infrastructure and most importantly teacher
training is on going and our teaching pedagogies in the classroom
reflect an innovative approach to learning. 21st Century
Learning Learners will use engaging technologies in
collaborative, inquiry-based learning environments with teachers who are
willing and able to use technology’s power to assist in transforming
knowledge and skills into products, solutions and new information. Purchasing
a 1:1 Laptop The school has an exclusive Apple Service
Centre on the campus. The centre sells a variety of Apple and other
computer related products at educational prices. All parents and
learners are able to use the centre to purchase Apple laptops, computers
and related equipment. In addition the shop is also responsible for
servicing and warranty of our 1:1 Laptop Programme. There are a
