CAS

Simply put, Creativity, action, service (CAS) is a mandatory core component of the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP), whose purpose is to provide a framework to allow students to pursue personal interests while at the same time providing a balance from the day to day demands of the academic curriculum.

While the International Baccalaureate organisation actively encourages as wide and imaginative an interpretation of the definitions of CAS, this component is structured to produce specific learning outcomes.

A student will:
  1. Have an increased awareness of their own strengths and areas for growth.
  2. Have undertaken and experienced new challenges.
  3. Have planned and initiated activities.
  4. Have worked collaboratively with others.
  5. Have shown perseverance and commitment in chosen activities.
  6. Have engaged with issues of global importance.
  7. Have considered the ethical implications of their actions.
  8. Have developed new skills.
For their CAS projects learners at Nexus have organised a TEDX event, Run to Stop Human trafiiking, built a Butterfly Farm, volunteered at Zoo Negara, danced to raise money for Pet Project, joined the Red Cross, learnt how to swim, competed in a Golf Tournament, made Sushi, learnt an instrument, made a film and much much more…
