6 Family Attractions to Visit during the School Holidays
Jul 12, 2017
Smiles are all around when semester breaks or long weekends are in sight. Your children will be getting their well-deserved rest and the entire family will be enjoying their much-needed quality time. Constantly buzzing with fun and excitement, there are many kids-friendly destinations to explore in Kuala Lumpur. From the famous Aquaria KLCC to the crowd-favourite Farm in the City, take your children to these kids-friendly attractions for an exhilarating family moment.

1. Kidzania
Stimulate your child’s imagination through the art of role playing at Kidzania. From getting into the character of a pharmacist to junior paint expert, the sky’s the limit to whoever your child aspires to be. Set in a fictional country of Kidzania, the learning centre gives children the experience to try on real-life jobs in a simulated city. Get your child to put on their thinking cap as a field investigator; answer the call of duty as a police officer; take the centre stage as an aspiring actor, or treat injured patients as a paramedic.

2. Aquaria KLCC
Allow your child to dive deep into their interest in marine conservation by spending a free weekend at Aquaria KLCC. Nestled in Kuala Lumpur City Centre (KLCC), be amazed by the collection of marine life swimming joyously in this world-class aquarium. Our favourite is the Oceanarium where you and your family can spot Whitetip Reef Shark, Green Sea Turtle and Honeycomb Stingray gliding gracefully above you. Remember to swing by the Gene Pool, so your child will have a chance to pat a Chocolate Chip Sea Star and Black Sea Cucumber.

3. Farm in the City
Teach the importance compassion and kindness to animals with a visit to Farm in the City. Backed by a Malaysian village setting, whisk yourself from the concrete jungle and into this petting zoo where your child can get up close with various animals. Beyond the petting zoo concept, Farm in the City strives to educate the younger generation about the importance of conservation and preservation. All of the animals roam freely within their special enclosures, which gives your child plenty of freedom to pat real-life alpacas, goats, raccoons and guinea pigs.

4. Sunway Lagoon
To build water confidence in your child, Sunway Lagoon is definitely the best place to be. Perfect for your children and the young at hearts, this water theme park is sprawled with exciting water rides and vibrant attractions. Spend your day at the Sunway Lagoon Water Park where your family can attempt the world’s highest water ride, the Vuvuzela. Another attraction worthy of our highlight is the Nickelodeon Lost Lagoon that is fitted with a Spongebob Squarepants-themed attraction.

5. Skytrex Adventure
Need a way to get your children to love the great outdoors? Magnify your family weekend with a day at Skytrex Adventure. Tucked away in Shah Alam Botanical Garden, Skytrex has a dedicated kids-friendly trail called Little Adventure where the young ones can challenge themselves at the Plank Bridge, Flying Fox, Walking Tube and much more. The Botanical Garden itself is also a fantastic place to cycle amid the tall trees and surrounding greenery.

6. Quantum Education
Transition your child from excessive screen time to educational summer camp at Quantum Education. More than play and practice, they believe in combining fun and learning to enrich your child with quality summer camp experience. This December, Quantum Education will be organising a Super Camp where your children can explore the spectrum of learning and life skills. While your child explores ways to learn better through study strategies, reading and mind mapping, they will also discover the keys to excellence, leadership, creative thinking, goal-setting and of course, outdoor adventure.

7. Kuala Gandah Elephant Conservation Centre
Educate your child about animal conservation with a visit to Kuala Gandah Elephant Conservation Centre in Bentong. Perfect for children who are in touch with animal conservation, the centre welcomes visitors who wish to learn more about habitat protection and their resident Asian elephants. Together with a local guide, you and your family can watch the mahouts bathe the elephants, catch an educational documentary and listen to conservation talks.

School holidays or weekends are the best times to visit kids-friendly attractions in Kuala Lumpur. Whether you’re setting your sight on a nature escapade at Skytrex Adventure or a quality learning experience at Quantum Education’s Super Camp, these activities will definitely strengthen your family bond and help you score high-fives from your children.
