Wellbeing and pastoral care are central to the Nexus experience. We recognise that every learner’s journey is unique, which is why we provide a comprehensive range of support so our learners can feel empowered to grow both academically and personally.

Learners
We provide a caring environment where learners feel safe, supported and empowered to grow both academically and personally at Nexus International School Malaysia. From dedicated counsellors and health services our learners have access to a network of people and programmes designed to guide them through challenges.
Personal, Social, Health
and Economic education
Personal, Social, Health and Economic education (PSHE) plays an important role in our curriculum, giving learners the knowledge, skills and values to thrive beyond the classroom. It helps them build healthy relationships, make informed choices, understand wellbeing and prepare for future challenges, supporting their growth as confident, responsible global citizens. Safeguarding is also a key part of PSHE, with lessons on personal safety, digital responsibility and making safe choices in everyday life.
Pastoral Support
Pastoral care is essential to maximising both learner wellbeing and academic success. At Nexus, every learner in every year group is supported by a dedicated network that includes , class teachers in Primary, Form Tutors, Phase Leads and Heads of Year, Pastoral Deputy Heads and school counsellor. Together, this team provides guidance, encouragement and care at every stage of school life, ensuring that learners feel supported personally and academically. In addition, our an IB Pastoral Lead and university and careers guidance helps prepare Secondary students for their future pathways with confidence and clarity.
Counselling Services
Our school counsellor plays an important role in supporting the wellbeing of the Nexus community. The counsellor deliver proactive character development programmes for all learners while also offering individual social-emotional counselling to those facing personal challenges. The focus is on nurturing intellectual, social and emotional growth within a caring and balanced environment.
Working closely with teachers, parents and other professionals, the counsellor ensure every learner is given the guidance and support they need to thrive and succeed at school.
Healthcare Services
The wellbeing of our learners is a top priority. Our fully equipped school infirmary, led by a trained and qualified on-site nurse, provides direct medical support to learners and staff throughout the school day. From administering first aid and managing emergencies to coordinating medical care when needed, our nurse ensures the safety and wellbeing of every learner. Regular health screenings, confidential record-keeping and close collaboration with teachers and parents help us to identify and manage health concerns promptly.
Peer Mentoring
Programme
The innovative Peer Mentoring Programme pairs Year 12 and 13 learners with younger learners in Years 10 and 11, creating a supportive environment for academic and personal growth. Mentors receive training to guide their peers effectively, while both mentors and mentees benefit from developing new skills, sharing experiences, and building confidence.
Learners gain personal and organisational skills, boost university and job applications, and for IB learners, fulfil CAS (Creativity, Activity, Service) requirements.
Boarding wellbeing
Pastoral care is central to life at Nexus Boarding. Boarding houseparents who are either teachers or nurses are trained in the Highest Level of Duty of Care ensuring every learner feels safe, valued, and understood. Thoughtful routines, such as guided limits on device use for younger learners, help to promote balance, meaningful connections, and a healthy lifestyle.
Community is also celebrated through weekly traditions like the Sunday family brunch, where staff and boarders cook, eat, and reflect together. These shared moments create lasting bonds and reinforce the warm, supportive environment that makes Nexus Boarding a true home away from home.
