international Sports opportunities

At Nexus, learners enjoy international sporting opportunities through the prestigious FOBISIA Games, an annual event organised by the Federation of British International Schools in Asia, where they compete, collaborate and build friendships with peers from across the region.

Interhouse competitions

Throughout the year, learners collect house points for their efforts and achievements including inter-house challenges and competitions, with our four houses, Nexus North, South, East, and West, competing for the overall winning title. These activities foster teamwork, friendships and a strong sense of belonging.

The sporting highlight of the year is Nexus Sports Day, held separately for Early Years, Primary and Secondary learners. On this day, house teams go head-to-head in a variety of events, celebrating athleticism, teamwork and school pride.

Competitive Sports

Nexus is an active member of three major sports leagues in Malaysia (AIMS, MSSD and MSSM) as well as the international FOBISIA Games, giving our learners the opportunity to compete at both local and international levels. Being part of these leagues, particularly FOBISIA and AIMS, provides Nexus with a valuable advantage, connecting our learners to a wider community of international schools, fostering healthy competition and enriching their sporting experiences.

Every learner is encouraged to join our school team, the Wolves, and represent Nexus in competitions across Malaysia. All teams hold try-outs before tournaments and learners are expected to attend regular lunchtime or after-school training sessions. These events are filled with camaraderie and team spirit, with parents warmly welcomed to cheer from the sidelines.

Swimming
at Nexus

We take great pride in our swimming programme, supported by a 25-metre pool and a wading pool for our younger learners. Swimming is an integral part of the Physical Education curriculum, with regular lessons for every year group to ensure all learners build strong swimming skills and confidence in the water. In addition, training sessions are available before and after school for those wishing to further develop their abilities.

  • Early Years: Weekly swimming lessons throughout the year
  • Primary & Secondary: Swimming lessons for one full term

Extra Sporting Opportunities

Beyond the regular PE curriculum, Nexus provides a variety of opportunities for learners to stay active and explore new sports.

Sports through CCAs

Co-curricular sports activities (CCAs) take place before school, during lunch and after school. Learners can enjoy extra training in popular sports such as football, basketball, swimming, badminton, tennis and rock climbing, helping them build skills, confidence and a love for staying active.

Weekend Sports

The Nexus campus also hosts a Weekend Sports Club, run by trusted external partners. These sessions offer specialist coaching in sports such as rugby, football, and badminton, open to both Nexus learners and the wider community.

Boarders’ Sports Programme

For our boarding learners, additional sports coaching is offered after school and on weekends. These activities allow boarders to remain active, develop their skills further and enjoy recreational time with friends in a supportive and supervised environment. Boarders also have general supervised access to the wide range of sports facilities on campus over the weekend.

Sports CCA Leaders

Nexus Sports CCA leaders coach their peers in the sports they excel in, fostering teamwork while developing their own leadership and organisational skills. Through this, they inspire others to grow in the sport and to build character, both on and off the field.
