With a robust background spanning a decade in diverse educational environments, Noah has developed a comprehensive skill set in creating and implementing technological curricula from KS1 to KS4, including contributions to the International Primary Curriculum. His experience extends to building STEM departments across Primary and Secondary education, with a focus on fostering innovation and entrepreneurship.

After completing my degree I decided to pursue a career in teaching to spread that same enjoyment of Maths to the young learners of today. I’m currently working in a large school in London and during this time I’ve been fortunate enough to have held both the roles of the Head of Year and the Deputy Head of Maths (KS4 lead). I’ve thoroughly enjoyed every minute of my teaching career so far. I’m very grateful to be joining Nexus and I’m excited to begin working with the team. I look forward to meeting you all very soon!

I am thrilled to be joining Nexus International School in August and am excited to be part of such a unique and diverse community. I gained my BA honors degree in English in 2003, and gained my QTS shortly afterwards. I taught in the UK for 12 years before moving abroad. After 16 wonderful years teaching, I have had a number of different roles, including Head of Faculty, Head of Year, Professional Trainer for Initial Teacher Training and Outstanding Practitioner. Teaching internationally has been a fantastic experience and has been a privilege to teach learners from across the globe. I love seeing young people learn about the world, themselves and their potential as global citizens. I love hiking, cooking and spending time with my family. I’m looking forward to exploring Malaysia and learning more about the country and the culture.

Clare is an English specialist with over 18 years of experience in working with learners in both the UK and Malaysia. Originally from the UK, she has supported students of all abilities to succeed across the key stages, up to IB and A Level. With an English Literature degree from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne and PGCE from the Institute of Education, Clare is passionate about the power of reading to help shape curious and articulate learners. She qualified as an Advanced Skills Teacher in 2008 and she believes that harnessing the power of language enables learners to have agency in order to be effective members of the world. She believes that discussion and creative thinking are vital for meaningful learning in the English classroom. Clare also relishes her role as Head of Year, helping to provide support and care for the learners as they navigate teenage life and formal education.

With 20 years of teaching experience, I have had the privilege of working in a variety of educational contexts, specialising in History, English, and Humanities. A graduate of the University of Manchester, I have also served as a Cambridge examiner for over 20 years, gaining valuable insight into international examination standards. In my current role as Head of IB and as a Higher Education and Careers advisor for the past decade, I have guided countless students in shaping their futures, helping them navigate pathways to universities and beyond. My international teaching career began in Tanzania as Head of 6th Form after teaching in the UK for seven years. Since then, I have taught in Sri Lanka and China, accumulating extensive experience with IGCSE’s, A-level’s, and the IB curriculum.

Originally from the UK, James has spent most of his teaching career abroad. He has previously taught in China and most recently in South Korea. During this time, James has enjoyed fostering a love of language and literature amongst his students. He has also had the privilege of serving in several positions, including Literacy Coordinator, House Coordinator and Global Citizenship & Sustainability Lead.

Bridget has called Malaysia home for over a decade and has developed deep roots in the community with her Malaysian husband and twin boys. With a wealth of experience teaching and assessing Mathematics and Theory of Knowledge (TOK), Bridget is driven by the philosophy that everyone has the potential to be a good mathematician when given the right inspiration and motivation. This commitment to student success is supported by her recent Master’s degree, in which she researched the experiences of female learners in Asia and how educational contexts influence their confidence and perception of mathematics. She is particularly interested in inclusive education, curriculum design and ensuring her learners enjoy their experience in the mathematics classroom.

Matthew strongly believes that you cannot comprehend the world we live in today if you do not understand how we got to where we are. A desire to work internationally led him to Egypt where he was based for five years, seeing history in action as the Arab Spring revolution against Hosni Mubarak gave way to military rule. Before taking up his current post at Nexus, he was working in another international school in the Klang Valley. Outside the classroom, he enjoys travel and outdoor activities. Trekking and scuba diving are two particular passions which he regularly indulges in Malaysia and the surrounding SE Asia region. Matthew believes that education should be about more than just passing exams (important though that is) but should prepare our learners of today to be the global citizens and leaders of tomorrow.

Josh has recently joined us here at Nexus international School and has been living in Kuala Lumpur for the past 4 years working as a PE teacher. Josh is extremely looking forward to joining the school as Head of PE and Sport and is looking forward to driving all learners forwards in their physical development and across competitive competition.

I will be joining Nexus Malaysia as the Head of Science for next academic year. Having worked in international schools in Singapore and Beijing over the past 7 years I am very much looking forward to joining the Nexus community and immersing myself in life in the school and in Kuala Lumpur. I am a lover of the outdoors and enjoy hiking and exploring new areas to travel. I am very much looking forward to experiencing the wonderful culture of Malaysia and getting to live in the beautiful city of Kuala Lumpur. I am excited to work with the staff, students and parents in the Nexus community and I look forward to meeting you in August.

Cherie has been teaching for over 25 years in secondary and further education institutions. She taught GCSEs, BTEC and A Levels in the UK at a boarding school for 9 years and has also lived and worked in New Zealand, China and Thailand. She has taught Visual Arts in the IB diploma for more than 15 years.

Marianne has over 25 years’ experience working in education in both teaching and leadership roles. She began her career teaching English Language and Literature in a secondary school in Leeds, UK and has since taught English as an Additional Language to adults and children of all ages in Italy and Malaysia.

I have a great interest in supporting children with dyslexia and have been trained in the multisensory approach in Australia. With an interest in autism too, I have been trained to be a Registered Behaviour Therapist. I look forward to transforming my classroom and teaching in Nexus International School to bring out the best in my students.

As a former ESL learner who moved to the U.S. from Poland at the end of primary school, I understand the challenges EAL students face firsthand – but also the incredible growth and opportunities that come with learning a new language. I believe that speaking English as a second language is not a limitation but a valuable skill, and that mastering it can be both empowering and enjoyable. I’ve been teaching English for about 20 years in countries including Poland, the UK, China, Hong Kong, and Malaysia. I taught mostly Secondary learners and Adults, and for some time, specialised in IELTS preparation and examining, gaining deep insight into academic English and learner progress. Since joining Nexus, I’ve been teaching Middle School, IGCSE, and IB classes, mainly focusing on EAL, English B, as well as English, and Humanities classes. In the classroom, I aim to build students’ confidence and help them take ownership of their learning. I enjoy using collaborative projects, low-stakes challenges, and interactive activities to keep lessons engaging and supportive. At Nexus, I look forward to continuing to create a space where students feel empowered to grow, both linguistically and personally.

With six years of teaching experience, Ken Hui is a passionate art educator with a degree in Visual Communication and a specialisation in graphic design. She brings a versatile artistic background to the classroom, fostering creativity through a blend of traditional and digital practices. While her professional training is rooted in design, she maintains a deep interest in all forms of art, especially photography, encouraging students to experiment, explore, and develop their own creative identities.

Caroline has over 13 years careers guidance experience working in secondary schools in Scotland, UK.

Piers has worked in the field of English as an additional language for 15 years and has taught all ages from Early Years children to Secondary iGCSE and IB students. He has previously worked in Nanjing and Guangzhou in China as well as in El Salvador. He aims to ensure that EAL students are able to become independent learners and to be confident in all aspects of school life. My interests include learning Chinese and Spanish and playing various sports in my spare time such as badminton, tennis and hockey. I am also a keen football fan and enjoy following the ups and downs (mainly downs!) of my favourite club Leeds United. My biggest passion is travelling and I cannot wait to explore more of Malaysia, learn more about Malaysian culture and of course sample the delicious food on offer.

Jennifer has over 20 years teaching experience, starting her career as a secondary drama teacher before moving into English language teaching. She has worked with students of all ages, nationalities and language levels in Ireland, the UK, the UAE, and Malaysia.She has worked as a trainer, training language teachers in Kazakhstan, Thailand and Ireland. Jennifer has held the managerial position of Director of Studies, but is much happier being in the classroom with learners! She holds a post-graduate diploma (DELTA) from Cambridge University in English language teaching and is an accredited Cambridge CELTA course tutor.

My education journey spans over a decade in the United Kingdom, where I explored academia, research, and teaching. Throughout my time in the UK, I completed my PhD and Postdoc followed by a career change becoming a secondary school teacher. My teaching journey began in Scotland, where I obtained my teaching qualification and taught the Scottish Curriculum, and later led me to Portugal, where I dedicated the past five years to educating students in IGCSE and A Levels Chemistry and Biology at an International School. Equipped with a solid foundation in biochemistry from the University of Aberdeen and University College London (UCL), I bring a wealth of experience to my role, spanning from research projects to student guidance and mentorship. With an unwavering commitment to staying abreast of the latest advancements in science and teaching methodologies, I ensure that my lessons resonate with real-world significance, fostering an engaging and dynamic learning atmosphere. I am very excited to get to know the IB system as well as all my new colleagues and pupils that come from so many interesting backgrounds and places. In my free time, I love to explore nature through hiking with my family, enjoy in the exploration of diverse cultures and cuisines, yoga, origami, photography, and music. Malaysia, with its blend of landscapes, cultures, and flavours, seems like the perfect place for these passions to flourish.

I have been a science teacher and leader for nearly 20 years now and I think I love it even more than when I started! My biggest passion, though, is biology and I am so excited to join your community to share my love of the natural world with you. Nexus will be my first teaching post outside of the UK which makes it all the more exciting! My husband, Tim, who is also a teacher, and my son Billy will be coming with me and we are all so glad to be coming to Malaysia. We are particularly looking forward to experiencing the diverse plant and animal life, the warm weather, the bustle of the city and the wonderful facilities you enjoy at Nexus. When I’m not in school you’ll usually find me somewhere outdoors. I love hiking, snorkelling and visiting new places and I’d love to get into diving again. I’m also hoping to play some tennis. I’m a beginner but enthusiastic!

Jasmine has over 10 years of teaching experience. Starting her career in the suburbs of Liverpool, then moving abroard. Her international teaching journey has taken her to Uzbekistan, Russia, Brunei and now Malaysia.

Ellie trained as a teacher following over a decade of experience as an engineer. She has been teaching at a grammar school in the south-west of England for the past 7 years where she was also Head of Lower School Science.

Sophie has been teaching science for over 12 years, specialising in Biology at both A level AND IB. She began her teaching career in the UK before moving internationally, with experince in schools across Thailand, Germany, and Sweden.

I’m excited about joining the Nexus community and meeting the amazing students. I have traveled to Malaysia before and I am particularly looking forward to immersing myself in the culture and travelling around the country to the beautiful beaches and rainforests (where I’ll have the opportunity to see animals in their natural habitats). I have a keen interest in crafts and spend some of my free time painting ceramics and making my own jewellery.

Tina has had over 19 years of teaching and management experience, working both in the UK and Asia. Tina taught in China for 5 years and in Vietnam for 2 years before moving here to Malaysia. Tina has had experience in teaching iGCSE and A Levels in ICT, Business and Economics.

Syed began his career as a CeFA-qualified financial advisor with Coutts and Lloyds Private Banking in London after completing a BA Honours in Business Administration. After seven years in the finance sector, he chose to move into teaching in 2009. He is now in his fifteenth year of teaching internationally. He spent eight years at St Christopher’s School in Bahrain and three years at Marlborough College Malaysia. He draws on his professional background to make business concepts clear and relatable for learners. His approach helps students stay engaged and achieve strong outcomes. He works to bring real-world experience into every lesson and focuses on supporting each learner’s progress.

David is an IB & IGCSE Economics teacher with 25+ years international experience. Has been an examiner & is a basketball coach. Based in Malaysia for 8 years, passionate about inclusive education for diverse learners.

I am thrilled to introduce myself as a new member of the Nexus community and very much look forward to joining in August.Having taught in Kent (South-East England) for most of my career, my teaching journey took me to Dubai for three years, where I had the privilege to experience the diverse range of cultures the UAE has to offer. Teaching in Dubai deepened my understanding of cultural diversity and the interconnectedness of education on a global scale. I have taught psychology for 12 years and held a variety of roles which include Head of Sixth Form, A Level Psychology Examiner and Subject Lead for Psychology. The skills and experience obtained from such positions have been crucial in shaping my teaching practice.Drawing upon my background in psychology and experience in education, I am passionate about coaching students to recognise and navigate the relationship between thought and behaviour, guiding students to explore techniques and strategies to enhance their emotional well-being and enhance their potential. I utilise such approaches to support my own physical and mental well-being, which complements my interest in fitness and outdoor activities.I love cooking and bringing people together through food is a passion of mine, you can expect to see me fully immersing myself in all community-related events (food related and beyond). Travel and experience beyond one’s culture are two things I believe to be essential for personal growth and I am thrilled to be joining a community that will teach me so much and offer the opportunities I am deeply motivated by.

Alexander has been teaching Geography and the Humanities for over 16 years at GCSE, A Level and IB level. He started his career in London before moving overseas and has since taught in schools across Asia and the Middle East.

Mr Joe is a Humanities and Psychology teacher at Nexus, where he has been for the past two years. He is passionate about exploring how people around the world think and engaging with global issues. He integrates his degree in Applied Social Sciences into teaching Humanities, Psychology and Global Perspectives. His teaching journey began working at a kindergarten when he was 18, igniting a lifelong passion for working with children and nurturing their growth as a future educator. He has worked in the UK for several years supporting adults and young people facing a variety of psychological challenges, and 3 years teaching English as an Additional Language in Hong Kong, before becoming a secondary school teacher working in Hong Kong, Costa Rica and now Malaysia.

Siti Zaleha brings 15 years of international school teaching experience and a professional journey that sets her apart. She began her career as a geologist researching gold deposits in the jungles of Pahang, strengthening her analytical skills, resilience, and appreciation for Malaysia’s cultural and environmental heritage. Transitioning into education, she developed a passion for teaching Mathematics and has since taught across IGCSE and IBDP programmes. She is known for creating learning environments that are supportive, structured, and engaging, with kindness and care shaping her teaching philosophy. She also supports learners’ holistic development by leading annual Challenge Week experiences to Langkawi, Sarawak, Bangkok, and Kanchanaburi. As an accredited Cambridge teacher trainer since 2017, she has delivered professional development across Southeast Asia and served as Head of Department (Maths), supporting curriculum, assessment, and teacher coaching. She is currently pursuing her PhD at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia on Culturally Responsive Pedagogy and how global perspectives can inform meaningful local practice. Beyond education, she advocates for caregivers and founded Kasih Zaleha GPT, an app that provides emotional support and guidance for individuals caring for loved ones.

Teacher Simon is a mathematics specialist with over 15 years of experience in working with English language learners across Thailand and the UAE. Originally from the UK, he has supported students of all abilities to succeed in middle school, IGCSE and IB HL Mathematics. With a Mathematics degree from the University of Bath and a Master’s in Education from the University of Nottingham, he is passionate about creating inclusive classrooms where every student can build their confidence in exploring mathematical ideas. Teacher Simon loves connecting mathematics to the world of his students — and inspires them to explore patterns, solve problems, and dream big about their futures. Curious about how technology can enhance learning, he experiments with AI tools to help students deepen understanding and strengthen retention. He joins Nexus with his wife and two teenage sons, excited to be part of a community where young mathematicians will go on to use their skills to shape Malaysia and beyond.

Suzanne has over 20 years of teaching and leadership experience. She has worked in diverse educational settings in London and Qatar as a Mathematics teacher and Head of Mathematics inspiring students to develop confidence and curiosity in maths.

Karolina brings over 7 years of experience in education, working in both teaching and leadership roles in Malaysia. She has taught mathematics to students from middle school through IGCSE and A Level.

I have over 12 years of teaching experience, having taught IGCSE and IB Diploma Math courses at Accadis International School in Germany for the past 8 years. Before moving to Germany, I taught Secondary School Mathematics in international schools in Japan and Thailand. I like to travel and explore new places, no matter if they might be right around the corner or around the globe. I am looking forward to experiencing the diverse culture and the culinary delights that Malaysia has to offer. I am excited to be joining Nexus International School and looking forward to meeting all the students. I enjoy spending time with my family, experimenting in the kitchen, traveling, hiking, running, and playing football.

Nurhidayah joined Nexus International School in August 2011. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Malay Studies and a Master’s Degree in Malay Linguistics, both from the University of Malaya, and successfully completed her Postgraduate Diploma in Teaching (PGDT) in 2023. With over sixteen years of experience teaching Malay Language in school and university, Nurhidayah has also built strong expertise in assessment. She currently serves as a Principal Examiner for IB Malay and a Senior Assessment specialist for IGCSE First Language Malay and Foreign Language Malay. In 2025, she was also appointed as one of the authors of the IGCSE Foreign Malay textbooks for HarperCollins UK, contributing to high-quality learning materials used internationally. Nurhidayah strongly believes in developing effective learning through technology and 21st-century learning skills. The multinational and multicultural community at Nexus provides an ideal platform for her to apply interactive ICT-based strategies and make Malay learning meaningful for international learners. She consistently embeds the principles of the Nexus Way in her teaching practice. Dedicated, energetic, and learner-focused, Nurhidayah enjoys working closely with her students and witnessing their growth. She believes that the greatest reward as an educator is helping learners reach their full academic and personal potential. She implements the various aspects of Nexus Way in teaching and learning. She is a dedicated and energetic teacher and enjoys working with learners and growing with them. Caitlin Quinn has over 15 years teaching experience, working in both her home country of Australia and abroad (specifically the UK, Kenya, Russia and Egypt). She has worked in IB World Schools for the past 6 years in both Australia and Egypt.

Linda began her teaching career in the UK gaining 10 years experience as an IB, A Level and GCSE English and Literature teacher. Since then she has taught in a variety of countries from Qatar to Colombia gaining experience in a further variety of curriculums and pastoral care.

I am looking forward to landing in Malaysia and starting at Nexus. I feel that the child-centred and creative learning focus of the educational philosophy will be a great fit for me. I’m from East London, where I started my teaching career as an English teacher, before going on to become a Head of Media and Film Studies at Stoke Newington in North London, for many years. I’ve always loved travel and adventure; this was part of the life-changing reason I decided to move to The British School, Kathmandu and start my international teaching career in Nepal. Culturally, it was fascinating, and it was the perfect place to enjoy outdoor sports: hiking, distance running and mountain biking. I’ve also enjoyed my time in China, but I’m really looking forward to experiencing the culture, the food and new experiences of Malaysia.

Originally from the UK, Jen started teaching English and Drama 7 years ago and since then has taken on several leadership responsibilities including the roles of Head of Year and Curriculum Lead for KS4 Drama. She has also acted as a mentor to newly qualified staff and trainee teachers, facilitating induction programmes and supporting staff to develop their teaching practice.

I am excited to become part of the Nexus community. I am South African, which is also where I completed my Psychology degree at the University of Pretoria. After earning my Post-graduate certificate in Education, I taught in South Africa, Namibia, Egypt and am now ready to actually leave Africa and continue my journey in Malaysia. I am a techno geek which is why I am (mainly) a Computer Science teacher. My family and I are outdoor enthusiasts and avid SCUBA divers, which I understand makes Malaysia the perfect destination. I am also a passionate movie-watcher and often try my own hand at making amateur videos. Travelling makes me happy and I am excited to expand my horizons in Asia! NISM has a lot to offer and follows a holistic approach in their teaching. This excites me, and specifically seeing the emphasis placed on nurturing meaningful relationships between teachers and learners. This is of immeasurable importance in the learning process. One way I have found to build and strengthen these relationships is by knowing learners outside the classroom as well, which is why I am a staunch supporter of extracurricular activities and field trips. I look forward to playing my part in the school and all it has to offer.

Madeleine has in excess of 20 years teaching experience and joins Nexus from her previous posting, where she was Head of Geography. Madeleine has taught in the UK, Vietnam, the Philippines and Malaysia. She is an advocate for inclusive learning environments and vocational skills.

Jing Yi began her teaching career as a university lecturer, where she taught English for Specific Purposes (ESP) and tutored trainee language teachers. She later joined Teach For Malaysia as a fellow, teaching English to secondary students, many of whom were beginners with little or no English proficiency. Over the past six years, she has continued to build her experience in international schools, including supporting newly arrived students with limited English.
