Year 12’s experience week away from Boarding comforts

Monday, November 26, 2018
For 4 nights and 5 days, the entirety of Year 12 along with the staff IB team went on an adventurous journey together at Radiant Retreats at Janda Baik. In the beginning, many of us were very hesitant about attending the CAS trip because we were still not the most comfortable about one another… well, at least not yet. Through various activities ranging from river trekking to lessons on survival skills to meeting with Orang Asli, we learnt an abundance of new things — such as the interesting traditions of some Malay tribes and about the sustainable importance of eliminating (or at the very least, reducing) deforestation.

But there was more to the trip than the information given to us. It was the values that we had actively explored together throughout the trip almost subconsciously, including:

  • Collaboration
  • Cooperation
  • Leadership
  • Trust

And most importantly: Friendship.

It was the team effort between everyone who worked hard to conjure up innovative ideas from each other to achieve the desirable result of friendship that we Year 12’s now own collectively. The CAS trip has truly brought us together in unity that will prevail for the next 18 months of pain, fun and more pain.

A special shout out to the IB team: Mr. Jared, Mr. Kyle, Ms. Bridget and Ms. Saron. Last but not least the facilitators of Radiant Retreats, who taught us numerous valuable lessons throughout the trip.

Thank you Ms. Saron for organising such a special trip for all of us to keep in our hearts and cherish forever! And thank you Y12’s for giving it your all during the trip - let's keep supporting each other from now on.

Many successfully complete the 24 Hour Run

Over twenty boarders challenged their physical and mental limitations throughout the duration of the 24 Hour Race at IGB School last weekend.

They prepared well with regular running practises over the last two months, as well as ensuring there was enough energy sourced food and drink throughout the duration of the event.

It would be fair to say that there were some body wearied and sleep deprived individuals who returned back to the Boarding House on Sunday morning.

Year 11’s preparing for Mock Exams

Our Year 11’s have made a concerted effort to make good use of extra revision sessions outside of their normal routine, as their mock examinations rapidly approach.

Not only are they attending ‘Get Ahead Club’ from 5pm-6pm, Monday to Thursday, the cohort are also revising from 9pm-10pm in the Discussion Room.
