Morag studied Modern Languages at the University of Cambridge where she also completed her education training. She is currently completing a doctorate in education at the University of Bath. She has been teaching for over 25 years and held senior leadership roles in both the UK and China before moving to Malaysia. She joined Nexus in 2018 as the Head of Secondary before becoming Principal in 2025.

Sahmalah completed her teacher training in New Zealand at the Christchurch College of Education. After returning to Malaysia in 1998, she joined Garden International School (GIS), where she held several leadership roles, including Year Leader and Primary Science Coordinator. During her years at GIS, she contributed to key working committees and organised staff and parent workshops to support professional learning.
In 2009, she joined Nexus International School, continuing to pursue her passion for educational research and effective classroom practice. She later earned her Master’s in Teaching and Learning from the University of Bath, UK.
Sahmalah is particularly passionate about Assessment for Learning and its impact on student progress. She actively refines her practice by attending professional development workshops, including those led by assessment expert Dylan Wiliam. She has also led workshops and presented at conferences to promote effective pedagogical approaches. Sahmalah is a two-time recipient of the Chairman’s Award for Excellence—first in 2003 at GIS and again in 2011 at Nexus International School—in recognition of her outstanding contribution to Primary education. She also collaborates with Taylor’s University School of Education, mentoring student teachers during their practicum at Nexus and serving as a liaison to strengthen the partnership and enhance the practicum experience.

She has experience working with deaf children in a London primary school and holds British Sign Language (Stage 1+). Anna earned a degree in Creative and Media Writing from the University of Middlesex and Qualified Teacher Status in Spanish and French from Kingston University. She is deeply passionate about communication and the written word.
In London comprehensive schools, Anna taught French at KS3 and Spanish at KS4 and KS5. She has also been a form tutor from Year 7 to Year 11, mentoring colleagues and organising GCSE language immersion trips. She believes language learning fosters independence and global awareness.
As a former EAL learner, Anna understands the challenges bilingual students face. In 2023, she completed the NASSEA Language, Literacy and Learning course to better support EAL and minority pupils.
Anna values holistic education, contributing to mentoring and well-being initiatives, the DEI working group, and serving as a CAS supervisor. Now in her 10th year at Nexus, she has taught across Year 3 to Year 13 and led service-learning initiatives, including environmental projects, animal welfare programmes, and community outreach. As an accredited Cambridge teacher trainer since 2017, she has delivered professional development across Southeast Asia and served as Head of Department (Maths), supporting curriculum, assessment, and teacher coaching.
She is currently pursuing her PhD at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia on Culturally Responsive Pedagogy and how global perspectives can inform meaningful local practice.

With over sixteen years of experience teaching Malay Language in school and university, Nurhidayah has also built strong expertise in assessment. She currently serves as a Principal Examiner for IB Malay and a Senior Assessment specialist for IGCSE First Language Malay and Foreign Language Malay. In 2025, she was also appointed as one of the authors of the IGCSE Foreign Malay textbooks for HarperCollins UK, contributing to high-quality learning materials used internationally.
Nurhidayah strongly believes in developing effective learning through technology and 21st-century learning skills. The multinational and multicultural community at Nexus provides an ideal platform for her to apply interactive ICT-based strategies and make Malay learning meaningful for international learners.
She consistently embeds the principles of the Nexus Way in her teaching practice. She has experience working with deaf children in a London primary school and holds British Sign Language (Stage 1+). Anna earned a degree in Creative and Media Writing from the University of Middlesex and Qualified Teacher Status in Spanish and French from Kingston University. She is deeply passionate about communication and the written word.
In London comprehensive schools, Anna taught French at KS3 and Spanish at KS4 and KS5. She has also been a form tutor from Year 7 to Year 11, mentoring colleagues and organising GCSE language immersion trips. She believes language learning fosters independence and global awareness.
As a former EAL learner, Anna understands the challenges bilingual students face. In 2023, she completed the NASSEA Language, Literacy and Learning course to better support EAL and minority pupils.
Anna values holistic education, contributing to mentoring and well-being initiatives, the DEI working group, and serving as a CAS supervisor. With over sixteen years of experience teaching Malay Language in school and university, Nurhidayah has also built strong expertise in assessment. She currently serves as a Principal Examiner for IB Malay and a Senior Assessment specialist for IGCSE First Language Malay and Foreign Language Malay. In 2025, she was also appointed as one of the authors of the IGCSE Foreign Malay textbooks for HarperCollins UK, contributing to high-quality learning materials used internationally.
Nurhidayah strongly believes in developing effective learning through technology and 21st-century learning skills.
