Morag studied Modern Languages at the University of Cambridge where she also completed her education training. She is currently completing a doctorate in education at the University of Bath. She has been teaching for over 25 years and held senior leadership roles in both the UK and China before moving to Malaysia. She joined Nexus in 2018 as the Head of Secondary before becoming Principal in 2025.

Having grown up and gone to university in the UK, Daniel completed his teacher training through the Teach First programme in London. After several years there, working in an inner-city state school, he moved to Peru to work for an independent British school in Lima. Here, he developed a real passion for pedagogy and assessment design, working as Director of Teaching and Learning.
After five years in Peru, he took up a Deputy Headship at an international school in Lisbon and subsequently at Garden International School in KL. During these years, he worked on whole-school curriculum, enrichment and safeguarding practices. Having obtained his NPQH last year, he now looks forward to working at NISM and helping it become the best school it can be.

Sandie has over 13 years’ experience working in Boarding leadership and teaching in Australia, Vietnam, the U.K. and Malaysia. She has worked in Boarding management in a range of settings with diverse student populations. Sandie has developed bespoke English programs within Boarding schools, offering a unique benefit of extra English help for many international Boarders.

KK Lee brings over 20 years of extensive experience in the financial industry, spanning Malaysia, Thailand, and Indonesia. She began her career as a Chartered Company Secretary, specialising in regulatory and compliance functions. Over time, her career progressed to include general management roles, where she successfully led multidisciplinary teams across corporate services and business operations, including merger and integration projects.
In 2019, KK Lee deliberately transitioned to the education sector, joining Nexus International School. She finds immense fulfilment in contributing to the growth and development of future generations and continues to make a meaningful impact through her role as Head of Operations.

His passion for music began in childhood and led him to study a Classical Music degree, followed by a Master’s degree in Jazz and then a PGCE in Music Education. He has led several Music and Performing Arts departments over the years and greatly enjoys bringing music to life at the heart of a school. He believes Nexus is perfectly placed and equipped to bring the magic of music education to life and is excited to begin making music.

(Hons) in the Advanced Study of Early Years in the UK, she specialised further by obtaining Post Graduate Certificates in both Special Educational Needs Coordination (NASENCO) and Specific Learning Difficulties (Dyslexia). With a career spanning 20 years across both mainstream and specialised SEN settings in the UK, Cheryl-Ann has developed a profound understanding of diverse learning needs. Her leadership experience is extensive, having served as Assistant Head, Designated Teacher for Looked After Children, and Early Help Coordinator.

Harriet is a passionate and energetic educator who believes meaningful learning happens when children are given the freedom to explore, play, and connect with the world around them. She began her career in law before discovering her true calling in education, starting as a Personal Learning Assistant supporting a child with special educational needs. During this time, she completed a Diploma in Montessori Early Childhood Education and later continued as a PLA at Nexus, where her passion for teaching truly grew. While completing her PGCE, she gained classroom experience as a Teaching Assistant in Year 4 before qualifying as a teacher and spending the past 10 years teaching in Key Stage 1. As an experienced Forest School Leader, she is deeply committed to outdoor and experiential learning, encouraging children to explore, take risks, and build confidence and resilience. In this role, she taught as a classroom teacher while also serving as Science and Thematic Lead.

Sahmalah completed her teacher training in New Zealand at the Christchurch College of Education. After returning to Malaysia in 1998, she joined Garden International School (GIS), where she held several leadership roles, including Year Leader and Primary Science Coordinator. During her years at GIS, she contributed to key working committees and organised staff and parent workshops to support professional learning.
In 2009, she joined Nexus International School, continuing to pursue her passion for educational research and effective classroom practice. She later earned her Master’s in Teaching and Learning from the University of Bath, UK.
Sahmalah is particularly passionate about Assessment for Learning and its impact on student progress. She actively refines her practice by attending professional development workshops, including those led by assessment expert Dylan Wiliam. She has also led workshops and presented at conferences to promote effective pedagogical approaches. Sahmalah is a two-time recipient of the Chairman’s Award for Excellence—first in 2003 at GIS and again in 2011 at Nexus International School—in recognition of her outstanding contribution to Primary education. She also collaborates with Taylor’s University School of Education, mentoring student teachers during their practicum at Nexus and serving as a liaison to strengthen the partnership and enhance the practicum experience.

Karen grew up in Germany, as her father was in the armed forces, and she attended many different schools during her childhood. She feels this has given her a strong affinity for children growing up in international schools. She has always been interested in languages and how they work, and has over 20 years of experience teaching EAL, including more than 10 years in leadership roles. She trained in the UK and has taught in Japan, the UK, Oman, Qatar, and now Malaysia. She is an experienced trainer for several EAL development courses, a member of NALDIC, and an Ambassador for the Heddle EAL Community group. She has a particular interest in the development of writing and Colourful Semantics.

Having grown up and gone to university in the UK, Daniel completed his teacher training through the Teach First programme in London. After several years there, working in an inner-city state school, he moved to Peru to work for an independent British school in Lima. Here, he developed a real passion for pedagogy and assessment design, working as Director of Teaching and Learning.
After five years in Peru, he took up a Deputy Headship at an international school in Lisbon and subsequently at Garden International School in KL. During these years, he worked on whole-school curriculum, enrichment and safeguarding practices. Having obtained his NPQH last year, he now looks forward to working at NISM and helping it become the best school it can be.

Amy has always had a passion for theatre and performance which has led to her completing a Performing Arts degree in London in 2004. After graduating in 2007, Amy enjoyed some
time working on acting projects, such as a variety of short films and plays. In 2007 Amy went to work at Summit summer camp in Pennsylvania, USA. It was there that she was able to assist with camp productions and musicals, as well as enjoy spending time canoeing down the Delaware river. She enjoyed working with young people so much that she returned twice more in 2008 and 2009, eventually working her way up to become deputy unit leader for the teenage girls.This experience inspired Amy to pursue a career in teaching. She completed a PGCE in Drama at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama in 2010. Following this, Amy spent four years teaching in central London in an outstanding academy, whilst also continuing to do weekend and summer work at the drama school where she trained as a teacher.

A desire to work internationally led him to Egypt where he was based for five years, seeing history in action as the Arab Spring revolution against Hosni Mubarak gave way to military rule.
Before taking up his current post at Nexus, he was working in another international school in the Klang Valley. Outside the classroom, he enjoys travel and outdoor activities. Trekking and scuba diving are two particular passions which he regularly indulges in Malaysia and the surrounding SE Asia region.
Matthew believes that education should be about more than just passing exams (important though that is) but should prepare our learners of today to be the global citizens and leaders of tomorrow.

As a former ESL learner who moved to the U.S. from Poland at the end of primary school, I understand the challenges EAL students face firsthand – but also the incredible growth and opportunities that come with learning a new language. I believe that speaking English as a second language is not a limitation but a valuable skill, and that mastering it can be both empowering and enjoyable.
I’ve been teaching English for about 20 years in countries including Poland, the UK, China, Hong Kong, and Malaysia. I taught mostly Secondary learners and Adults, and for some time, specialised in IELTS preparation and examining, gaining deep insight into academic English and learner progress. Since joining Nexus, I’ve been teaching Middle School, IGCSE, and IB classes, mainly focusing on EAL, English B, as well as English, and Humanities classes.
In the classroom, I aim to build students’ confidence and help them take ownership of their learning. I enjoy using collaborative projects, low-stakes challenges, and interactive activities to keep lessons engaging and supportive. Equipped with a solid foundation in biochemistry from the University of Aberdeen and University College London (UCL), I bring a wealth of experience to my role, spanning from research projects to student guidance and mentorship. With an unwavering commitment to staying abreast of the latest advancements in science and teaching methodologies, I ensure that my lessons resonate with real-world significance, fostering an engaging and dynamic learning atmosphere.

Teaching in Dubai deepened my understanding of cultural diversity and the interconnectedness of education on a global scale. I have taught psychology for 12 years and held a variety of roles which include Head of Sixth Form, A Level Psychology Examiner and Subject Lead for Psychology. The skills and experience obtained from such positions have been crucial in shaping my teaching practice.Drawing upon my background in psychology and experience in education, I am passionate about coaching students to recognise and navigate the relationship between thought and behaviour, guiding students to explore techniques and strategies to enhance their emotional well-being and enhance their potential. I’ve always loved travel and adventure; this was part of the life-changing reason I decided to move to The British School, Kathmandu and start my international teaching career in Nepal. Culturally, it was fascinating, and it was the perfect place to enjoy outdoor sports: hiking, distance running and mountain biking. Christel is a French native speaker with over ten years of teaching experience. She graduated from the University of Paul Valéry in Montpellier, France in English Literature and Linguistics before completing her PGCE in Kingston University in London. Christel taught French and Spanish for three years in an inner-city London school, delivery the French GCSE and A-Level courses. She was also the Coordinator for Heritage Languages for KS5 learners. Before joining Nexus International School in 2020, she taught English in Toulouse. Since joining our school, Christel has been teaching Spanish to Primary classes and French from KS3 all the way to KS4, delivering the IGCSE, IB French B and French Ab Initio courses.

Amy has always had a passion for theatre and performance which has led to her completing a Performing Arts degree in London in 2004. After graduating in 2007, Amy enjoyed some
time working on acting projects, such as a variety of short films and plays. In 2007 Amy went to work at Summit summer camp in Pennsylvania, USA. It was there that she was able to assist with camp productions and musicals, as well as enjoy spending time canoeing down the Delaware river. She enjoyed working with young people so much that she returned twice more in 2008 and 2009, eventually working her way up to become deputy unit leader for the teenage girls.This experience inspired Amy to pursue a career in teaching. She completed a PGCE in Drama at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama in 2010. Following this, Amy spent four years teaching in central London in an outstanding academy, whilst also continuing to do weekend and summer work at the drama school where she trained as a teacher.
