Sharlia is an experienced Malay Language teacher who has been part of Nexus International School Malaysia since 2018. She teaches across Primary and Secondary, helping learners build strong language skills and a deeper appreciation for Malay language and culture.

With 15 years of teaching experience in international schools, she has solid expertise in curriculum planning, assessment design, and differentiated instruction. She has taught programmes such as IGCSE Malay Foreign Language and primary language acquisition, and currently serves as an Assessment Specialist for Cambridge IGCSE Malay Foreign Language.

She holds a Master of Education in Curriculum Studies from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) and is committed to creating a supportive, engaging learning environment where learners feel confident to participate and express themselves.

Christel is a French native speaker with over ten years of teaching experience. She graduated from the University of Paul Valéry in Montpellier, France in English Literature and Linguistics before completing her PGCE in Kingston University in London. Christel taught French and Spanish for three years in an inner-city London school, delivery the French GCSE and A-Level courses. She was also the Coordinator for Heritage Languages for KS5 learners. Before joining Nexus International School in 2020, she taught English in Toulouse. Since joining our school, Christel has been teaching Spanish to Primary classes and French from KS3 all the way to KS4, delivering the IGCSE, IB French B and French Ab Initio courses.

Anna is a language specialist with 17 years of experience teaching in the U.K. and Malaysia. Originally from Spain, she has lived and worked across Spain, France, the U.K., and Malaysia, supporting learners of all abilities, including those with learning difficulties, from primary through to A-level and the International Baccalaureate.

She has experience working with deaf children in a London primary school and holds British Sign Language (Stage 1+). Anna earned a degree in Creative and Media Writing from the University of Middlesex and Qualified Teacher Status in Spanish and French from Kingston University. She is deeply passionate about communication and the written word.

In London comprehensive schools, Anna taught French at KS3 and Spanish at KS4 and KS5. She has also been a form tutor from Year 7 to Year 11, mentoring colleagues and organising GCSE language immersion trips. She believes language learning fosters independence and global awareness.

As a former EAL learner, Anna understands the challenges bilingual students face. In 2023, she completed the NASSEA Language, Literacy and Learning course to better support EAL and minority pupils. Anna values holistic education, contributing to mentoring and well-being initiatives, the DEI working group, and serving as a CAS supervisor. Now in her 10th year at Nexus, she has taught across Year 3 to Year 13 and led service-learning initiatives, including environmental projects, animal welfare programmes, and community outreach. She remains committed to supporting both student development and charitable causes.

Syahirah is a dynamic and passionate language teacher with over 10 years of experience teaching Malay as a First Language, Malay as a Foreign Language (IGCSE) and Malay B for the IB Diploma Programme. Beyond the classroom, she contributes to international education as an Assessment Specialist for Cambridge IGCSE Malay Foreign Language.

Holding a Master of Philosophy in Plant Biotechnology from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia and a Postgraduate Diploma in Teaching, Syahirah is committed to lifelong learning and professional excellence. She brings innovation into her lessons through modern pedagogical approaches and educational technology, creating learning experiences that are both meaningful and inspiring.

Steve has been in the education field for 15 years, with extensive experience in the Cambridge syllabus for Mandarin as a Foreign Language and Mandarin as a Second Language. Many of his learners have achieved strong academic success under his guidance.

As a language teacher, his goal is to show that mastering more than one language is truly possible. Steve doesn’t like boring language classes, so he is dedicated to gamifying his lessons. Don’t be surprised if you see his learners shooting a suction-cup arrow during a vocabulary activity. Alongside his Mandarin teaching, he also nurtures learners in vocal singing, helping them build confidence in stage performing.

Cheryl has more than a decade of teaching experience across various international school settings, with expertise in Cambridge First Language Chinese, Chinese as a Second Language, Mandarin Chinese, AS Level Chinese Language, and IBDP. She also serves as a Cambridge IGCSE Assessment Specialist for Chinese as a Second Language, a role that deepens her understanding of assessment standards and enhances the quality of feedback she provides to learners.

Cheryl is passionate about creating meaningful, engaging, and culturally rich learning experiences. She regularly organises international exchange programmes, cultural immersion activities, and coordinates student participation in competitions. Her commitment to nurturing learners’ confidence and creativity has contributed to numerous student achievements at both regional and international levels. Beyond the classroom, Cheryl supports the wider educational community as a judge for international language competitions that promote excellence in communication and cultural appreciation.

Cheryl is also currently pursuing postgraduate research studies, further strengthening her academic foundation and advancing her professional expertise.
