Boarders breaking waves

Monday, September 3, 2018
Last Saturday afternoon, some boarders were treated to a thrilling time at the Flowrider 1 Utama. Some of us as young as ten years of age and including Mr Dan himself got to try their hand at the two types of surfing offered: bodyboarding and flow-boarding. We were briefed on the proper techniques and suited up in appropriate swimwear before taking turns on the Flowrider. The experience turned out to be much more challenging than most had expected, with plenty of flipping and flopping going on, much to the amusement of onlookers. But of course, the wipeouts only made the experience all the more exciting!

The Flowrider instructors were always nearby to lend a helping hand or offer a few pro tips, and by the end of the session, with much perseverance and determination, many boarders had gotten the hang of it. Some even managed to pull off a few impressive tricks in the process.

Even though everyone was thoroughly exhausted at the end of the day, the experience left many craving for more Flowrider action, hopefully next term.

The newly appointed Boarding Council were in charge of organising activities for Merdeka Day and we were all involved with cake decorating, cotton flag painting and fan making. The activities were enjoyed by all who stayed in house and the Council also organised for a beautiful Malaysian flag cake to be delivered in the afternoon. The Council members will also act as Floor Captains on their respective floors.

This is just the first of many celebratory activities and events that will be organised by the Boarding Council throughout the year.

This terms Boarding Council members are Khoo, Shaq, Matin, Ejaz, Durra, Jun, Elisa and Zen Mae.

Our Food Committee representatives have also been selected for Term One. Following consultation with peers from their own floors Dening, Atakhan, Izzah and Callie will provide feedback and offer suggestions at monthly meetings with our Catering Manager Ms Linda, Head of Operations Mr Colin and Houseparent Mr Dan.
