Home Run of a Weekend

Tuesday, January 23, 2018
We began Saturday morning with an edition of ‘Breakfast Club’ led by Mr Dan. This week he taught the boarders how to make Shakshuka, a North African Baked Egg breakfast/brunch dish. It’s a one pan, easy but very delicious dish which can be made in a flash and at a low cost which is extremely appealing to those heading off to University next year. A chunky spiced tomato, red pepper, chili and onion sauce is created before making wells in it to crack the eggs into. The eggs then slowly bake in the residual heat from the sauce giving you set whites and runny yolks to enjoy, giving the dish a rich and creamy finish. We served with a sprinkle of freshly chopped coriander and some chopped black olives.

After our great start to the day we headed to ‘The Roof’ @ 1Utama for an afternoon at the Batting Cages. After receiving our safety briefing we picked our helmets and headed to the cages to hit some home runs. It was a great set up as we could choose between softballs or the smaller sized baseball. We also had control of the speed and height of the pitch so that it was a really customisable experience for everyone, suiting our boys and girls of different ages.

After we had finished, we headed into 1Utama, the 7th largest mall in the world for some retail therapy before heading back to the boarding house for dinner. To finish off a fantastic day, we gathered back in the common room kitchen for some Pancake Making! Mr Dan made up a few bowls of batter and Ms Sarah prepared all of the toppings for many of us to make their own pancake concoctions. Some amazing pancakes were turned out and we even had a couple of pancake flips by the girls along with some pancake animal designs.

December Unbirthdays
Those boarders with birthdays in December were pleasantly surprised with a cake to celebrate their special day. Happy Birthday December babies!
