Scaling New Heights at Paradise Valley

Monday, January 21, 2019
Last Saturday, we went with Mr Troy and Ms Bobby to Paradise Valley in Selangor for the weekend activity, and the weather was very hot and sunny.

There were many activities on offer such as Flying Fox, Broga Hill hiking, Wall Climbing, Abseiling, Tug of War and Raft Building. There was also on-site cabins and tents that the public can use for accommodation. We chose Abseiling and Raft Building as the two activities for our group to participate in.

We first attempted Abseiling and initially some of us were really scared to descend down the three-storey wall, but our friends gave us encouragement to complete the mission. It was a bit challenging for some of us and once we completed the climb down, some of us attempted to try again.

Following a much needed cold drink, we were separated into two groups to build a raft using our critical thinking and survival skills. We had 40 minutes to build up a raft using some logs, plastic drums and rope. Once we completed our task some members from both teams attempted to row their raft across the man-made pond in which CY, Nelson and Wenhao successfully did for Team Two.

We think Paradise Valley is the perfect getaway from the hustle and bustle of city life because there are no high buildings and no cars, so we could enjoy the afternoon within the  beautiful nature.

Normally, teenagers go to the shopping mall on the weekend but we want to let them know that Paradise Valley is a great alternative to enjoy their weekend.

As part of our Community Outreach program, an early start by Ms Bobby and our junior boarders was required on Sunday morning as they helped sort recyclable waste at the Tzu Chi Foundation Recycling Centre in Seri Kembangan. Following an introduction on why we recycle as well as what items to separate, everybody worked tirelessly for the entire morning. Well done all.
