Spectacular

What pieces of advice or tips would you like to give to other up-and-coming musicians who are looking to kickstart their musical careers?

COOPERATION IS KEY!
One of the many interesting tips we received from the band was to learn to be able to cooperate with other musicians. Regardless of whether they are in the band or not, feedback from other fellow musicians could be an important factor in driving your music talents forward!

Which band, or musician do you think had the biggest influence on your decision to form your band and to pursue music?

Mr David!!
Green day Twenty One pilots Queen
Blink182
Sum 41

Would you like to tell us how your band name was decided?
The name of “Sound Cheque” (as we’ve come to learn) has a very interesting history behind it! According to the band themselves, the name was conceived in a jam session between each of the members, where the word “mic check” was uttered by one of the band members' associates, that being one of the band members' sisters. After a few perks, such as changing the “check” to “cheque” for french pizazz, the ‘Sound Cheque’ name we all know today was finally born!

How do you think a typical band practice session for you went in preparation for the BOTB?
One memorable phrase that came up in response to this question was simply, ‘all over the place’! A majority of Sound Cheques band sessions consisted of fiddling around with instruments, and generally doing what the band members pleased. However, there were often difficulties in the preparation process as some members were not present.

What are some of the biggest challenges you faced as a band while preparing for the competition, or even during the competition?

Many of the band members expressed their difficulties in maintaining a good attention span throughout the competition. In addition, due to some bandmates joining at a later time, the band members also struggled with introducing new members to the material being practised.
