Learning Diwali Through Art

Learning about the cultural festival of Diwali started early in the Alternative Pathway Creativity classes. Students created individual rangoli designs, diya lanterns and diya lantern wreaths. The work culminated in a collaborative rangoli project with students from other secondary year groups. The final pieces of art work were shared outside the MPR at the Nexus Diwali Day celebration. 





Cultural cooking also took place as part of the Life Skills lesson on kitchen safety. Students cooked traditional South Indian muruku and shared with their teachers, friends and family.
