Why Study IPC @ Nexus?

At Nexus, the International Primary Curriculum (IPC) is the choice of curriculum for our Primary School. The curriculum is up-to-date, comprehensive, and future-oriented, aimed at children from Years 1 to 6 growing up in this digital age. It nurtures a love of learning and encourages key skills, competencies, and habits of minds.

Our school curriculum has a few fundamental beliefs:
  • Learning is about making connections. We ensure that all learners are given the opportunity to see the ‘Big Picture’.
  • Relaxed alertness, not stress, is the best state for learning.
  • Every learner has a portfolio of intelligence. It is our job to discover in which ways each learner is ‘smart’
  • Children access learning in diverse ways: A child may learn best through seeing, hearing or through doing or combination of all there styles.
  • Time needs to be created for complex thinking time - “slow thinking” time.
  • Good health is important for effective learning.
The IPC programme are inquiry-based, thematic approach, which encourages the learning of subjects through a central idea. This provides excellent opportunities for learners to make meaningful connections and form new knowledge with deep understanding. Our primary school programme also incorporates the UK National Curriculum and we supplement the Maths learning goals where we feel it is necessary.

Why Study at Nexus:

We provide learners with the best education possible. For our Primary learners, we introduce them to a broad range of subjects through the International Primary Curriculum. In addition to that, the teaching staff together with parents and learners have identified the Personal Goals that we would like our learners to acquire during their time in the Primary School. The Nexus Neuron below is a representation of these goals and teachers work towards ensuring that classes are taught in a manner, which the learners are able to acquire these skills.
