Year 6 Exit Point

Oct 11, 2019
The Year 6 students of Nexus International School finished their exciting IPC unit, “Earth as an Island” with a unique exit point.

Throughout the unit, the students learnt about how islands used to be isolated places, with unique cultures, geographical features and ecosystems. However in today's increasingly-interdependent global community, even the most remote of islands are being ever-more affected by human existence. Our learners explored the impact of humans on islands.

For their exit point, they each chose an island and researched traditional recipes, discovered the origin of the ingredients, and calculated the food miles and its impact on the island.

They celebrated the conclusion of the exit point by cooking a dish at home with their family, then brought it to school to share. And, the learning then continued with other learners answering quizzes as they tasted delicious food from all over the world!
