Boarders show support for Malaysian Mental Health
Monday, October 8, 2018
Last Saturday evening all boarders and Houseparents took part in the MIND Run & Carnival at Technology Park Malaysia, Bukit Jalil. The 2018 Mind Carnival is an event centered on the intention to promote community involvement in raising awareness for mental health.
The 5 kilometre night run was held at night as a representation of the darkness that mental illness is often associated with. On arrival we all received a complimentary NEON coloured T-Shirts to colour the darkness. Everyone finished the run and it was an amazing evening for us all.
The carnival had plenty of exciting awareness movements and demonstrations as well as performances from Malaysian artists. There was also food trucks and vendors of all sorts selling delicious food and drink, which we all enjoyed after the run.
This run kick-started our Mental Health Awareness Week in Boarding in conjunction with World Mental Health Day which is next Wednesday October 10th.

The following morning we had a special edition of Brunch Club with Mr Dan as many rose early to make Superfood Breakfast Smoothie Bowls. This breakfast was inspired from a recent trip to Indonesia by Mr Dan and Ms Sarah, with the boarders blending a mixture of frozen super fruits with other fruits and soy milk to create our base. We then added a sugar free mixed nut and dried fruit muesli and an option of blueberries, raspberries, goji berries, banana & açai powder.
It was absolutely delicious and really healthy, giving us the perfect start to our Sunday!
Boarding Council Organise Visit to Rumah Keluarga Kami
On Saturday afternoon we began our Boarding Council Community Outreach project working with Rumah Keluarga Kami (RKK) as ten boarders made the visit to RKK with our keyboards and forming group lessons teaching music literacy.
The intention is for the visits to continue on at least a monthly basis.
