Happy New Year to all!

Monday, January 14, 2019
This week we welcomed eight new boarders from China, Angola, Korea, Hong Kong and Malaysia which takes our roll to 70.

We have an extensive Weekend Activity Program planned for the term which include a Rainforest Hike, Fishing Trip, Cooking Class as well as some Community Outreach Days.

Our new Boarding Council (from left to right) Cecilie, Koko, Maheem Shaq, Alia, Atakhan, Dream and Katrina (absent) were chosen and we look forward to their contribution and planning of events throughout the term.

This terms Food Committee (from top to bottom) King Yin, Wai Hoe, Kim J and Eva was also selected and they will be meeting with our food caterers on a regular basis over the next few months.

Back into the swing of things after Christmas break

Boarders were literally back into the swing of things as they headed to 1Utama for some fun in the Batting Cages as they were able to hit baseballs and softballs from an automated pitching machine. The boarders can adjust the pitch speed and height which allows those of different abilities to adapt and enjoy. It is always interesting to see how quickly the children improve during the session. There were plenty of home runs being hit by the end of the day before heading off into the Mega Mall for some retail therapy.

In the evening we all joined in a super fun game of Boarding Bingo with an array of goodies as prizes. We had lots of games with winners of both lines and full house bingo’s to maximise the prize giving. We had some very lucky boarders who won multiple prizes but everybody was a winner at the end of the night.

On Sunday morning we started the term off with American Fluffy Pancakes, a dish that the boarders love so much. This recipe utilises baking powder in the mix to add an element of rise in the cooking process, giving a fluffy and almost sponge like finish. We topped the pancakes with fresh blueberries, blueberry compote and honey. We had a great time making the batter then flipping the pancakes which always proves to be the fun part.
