My Go-karting Experience

It was the weekend after IB Year 13 mocks and I knew I had to join Go-Karting with the other boarders.

The thought of driving a small size vehicle while competing with many other similar drivers on the road scared me at first. It seemed like a dangerous sport and the vehicle seemed so fragile, as though the vehicle might break anytime.

When we got to Usj Speedway PLUS Go-Kart Circuit, we were split into two groups. I was in group 1. After we were briefed by the staff members, I picked a helmet and got into the vehicle. At that moment, I was terrified. Thoughts like, "What if I crash?" "What if the vehicle loses control?" "What if the engine catches fire?" The "What ifs" clouded my thoughts and I was very very scared.

It was time. The staff members came to our individual vehicles and started the engine. The engine came alive and I was in control of the vehicle as well as my life. I stepped on the throttle and before I knew it, I was Go-Karting! The adrenaline rush I felt when I zoomed pass my friends was exhilarating. I felt so free.

As time went on, we were more confident of our driving and eventually became more reckless. There was this time when I was at a sharp turn and had to brake to control my vehicle and one of my friends passed me at full speed and crashed straight to the side. Luckily she did not injure herself as everything was really safe at the circuit. Since there were no major accidents during our trip there, all the accidents we encountered were more funny than dangerous.

In conclusion, I am sure I can speak for everyone that it was a very fun experience. I will definitely join Go-Karting again if I have the chance.
