Royal Pewter Factory

It took us nearly 45 minutes in the bus to reach the Royal Selangor Pewter Factory. When we got there the first thing we saw was the biggest mug made out of pewter. Then we were introduced to different things made out of pewter, some were really small and some were really big.

The next thing we did was to test how heavy a pewter block was by standing on one side of a balancing scale and putting a pewter block on the other side. It took 5 people to balance it equally. After doing that we went to a room with different types of bells hanging on the ceiling. Some glasses made out of tin of different heights were kept on a table with a small stick to hit them to make different sounds. Then we were taken to a room there was a lot of workstations and everyone picked one station. After that we were given flat tin plates to carve our names on and then hit them with wooden hammers so they turned into bowls. Next we were given boxes to keep them in and take with us.

Later we went to the café, which was next to a souvenir shop. We ate tempting cookies, muffins and enjoyed warm coffee in the café and had a look at the souvenirs in the shop. So this was the end of the day when all the boarders returned to the bus and left the Royal Selangor Pewter Factory. It was a pretty fun trip and we got to learn a lot.
