Term 2 Week 1 & 2

Term 2 Week 1

As everybody returned energised and refreshed from the Christmas and New Year holiday, we were delighted to welcome eight new boarders to Nexus. They were all quickly paired up with their buddies and shown around the boarding house and school to build some familiarity to their new environment. We now have 73 boarders in-house, the highest total ever!

The first weekend activity of the term was aimed towards a team building exercise for all boarders, so The Amazing Race was organised by houseparents. Teams (by country) were randomly chosen and they had to complete a variety of challenges within the school grounds and around the local village. The afternoon proved to be successful with all participants required to communicate and contribute amongst their team in order to achieve all challenges within the time allocation.
In a closely fought contest between the six teams, Team Japan consisting of Aiman, Lyn, Terence, Sally and Takuto were the winners.

Term 2 Week 2

Our Year 11 and 13 learners completed their mock exams and they are all anxiously waiting for their teachers to provide feedback and exam results in the next couple of weeks. Parents of Year 11 learners will have the opportunity to attend PTLC on Thursday February 2nd from 3.30pm to 7.00pm. PTLC for Year 13’s is Tuesday January 24th from 3pm.

On Saturday, Ms Bobby and Ms Rebecca took the boarders to Breakout which is a reality escape gaming experience consisting of various theme rooms. Three teams of eight were welcomed into either The Chamber Hocus, The Infinity or The Greatest Murder of Westwood as each room had its own storyline, puzzles and tasks that have to be completed within 45 minutes for the group to escape.

A small reminder to parents and guardians as the Chinese New Year holiday approaches, that boarders are required to leave the boarding house by 5pm on Thursday January 26th, and they may return after 3pm on Wednesday February 1st.
