What A Weekend

Friday September 20:

We had a movie and popcorn night and watched two movies, The Sapphires, which is about some aboriginal girls in racist Australia who are really good singers, and an alcoholic Irishman who finds their talent when they perform in a pub talent show, where he is working. They go and perform in Vietnam for the soldiers.   The second movie we watched was Grownups 1. I was laughing my head off, along with everyone else. During the movies we ate 12 packets of popcorn and lots of fizzy drinks.

Sat September 21:

At 1:30pm we went to Zoo Negara. We split into pairs and went right into the zoo. We went to visit all the animals we really wanted to see, since we were on limited time but my favourite moments were probably when we saw the teenage tiger cubs playing and wrestling in their pool, It was so funny, we even took a video of it. Hallie and I fed the elephants sugar reeds. Overall the zoo was really fun. It was nice to see that it had very good conditions for the animals and they were obviously taken care of. There was construction going on to accommodate the new Giant Pandas, which I’d like to see next year.

Sun September 22: At 2:30pm we had a swimming carnival that consisted of four games. The 1st was a relay race with noodles and kicking boards, the 2nd race was retrieving rings from the pool, seeing how many people could get in a certain amount of time, the 3rd was a raft relay race. The 4th game was a simple game of water polo. The reason I didn’t say who won was because it was an event that was just for people to join in and have fun, it wasn’t a carnival where you went “Oh, I won that.” or “Oh, I won this.” It was just a fun time for people to get together and play some games in the pool, it was fun and even though there were prizes, everybody got some so it didn’t matter anyway. It was really fun and I hope they do another one so I can do it again.

At 4pm we went out to Alamanda, the mall near the school. Only a few people can go at a time and I had signed up as one of the first people cause I needed ‘supplies’. I find Alamanda as a way to get out of the school and hang out with your friends.  And it’s not a mall that has only a few shops, it has quite decent shops as well, so we can get our sweet or coffee fix.
