AIMS Conference

Sep 3, 2025
The AIMS Teachers Conference 2025, hosted by the Association of International Malaysian Schools, is a pivotal annual event bringing together educators from across Malaysia’s international schools to explore innovative teaching strategies and address the evolving challenges of today’s diverse classrooms.

At this year’s conference, Nexus educators Marianne Dark, Chu Wenyi, and Siti Zaleha made significant contributions that truly stood out.

Marianne and Wenyi co-presented on supporting learners transitioning from traditional, exam-focused systems to interactive, inquiry-based learning environments. They highlighted how these learners face challenges beyond language, including deeply ingrained beliefs about learning itself. Drawing from research and practical classroom experience, they shared strategies empowering teachers to bridge these gaps—helping learners build confidence, curiosity, and adaptability. Their session inspired rich discussions among educators across subjects, fostering inclusive and responsive teaching approaches.

From Wenyi: “This conference highlighted the importance of evolving our teaching practices to meet diverse learners’ needs. Insights on acculturation, AI in education, and student leadership will greatly influence my approach moving forward.”

Meanwhile, Siti delivered an inspiring workshop titled “More Than Numbers: Culturally Responsive Mathematics Teaching for an Inclusive World.”

From Siti: “Presenting at AIMS 2025 was an exciting opportunity to share my passion for culturally responsive math teaching. It reinforced the importance of creating inclusive classrooms that honor every learner’s background. Exploring AI’s role in education was inspiring, and I look forward to integrating these strategies to make math more meaningful and accessible for all students.”

Together, these contributions demonstrate how Nexus educators don’t just teach - they lead change, shaping a forward-thinking, inclusive international education landscape.

We’re also proud that our Principal, David Griffiths, serves as Chair of AIMS, reinforcing Nexus’s commitment to educational leadership and innovation.

Thank you to AIMS for providing this vital platform for professional growth and collaboration.
